The End

I did it. I finished the 29 Faces challenge and yes, it was a challenge. It was very difficult keeping up, having to do more than one face at a time to catch up. Well, I'm done and I did have fun and learn some new techniques and used media I hadn't used before. I will continue to fill up my sketchbooks and do new paintings. I'm glad this was only once a year. Now I have to work on other things. Stay tuned.

I started and ended this challenge with a black pen and using one continuous line. The sketch below was the first. Not bad. I'll have to practice this technique a bit more.

A Face in Progress

I'm trying a new technique from Linda Browning. You crumple up a piece of wrapping tissue, spread it out on a wet surface (watercolor paper) and then add color. When the paper is almost dry, you peel it off and it leaves lines.

I put down two different blues first, let that dry a little and then added the brown because I want to attempt a face. Linda uses this technique for landscapes. So this should be interesting if I can pull it off.

You can kind of see the lines left by the paper and barely see the brown. Of course, this pic is a bit washed out and looks better in real life. This one will probably take me the longest time to do.

18, 19, 20-29 Faces

Seems to be a thing with me. Always behind two faces. Here are the latest. I will finish this challenge. I will.

These first two are 2.5" x 4" and done with a Pilot Precise V5 extra fine blue pen.

This guy is the same size as the above and is done with Berol Prismacolor color pencils. I'm working with this size because it was an empty handmade journal that I had laying around. So I thought I'd fill it up as one of my goals for the year. Looks like it will be filled with male faces. Why not?

15, 16, 17-29 Faces

Catching up but still behind two faces. This is more challenging than expected because I'm trying to get new work done to jury into a show. And that deadline is fast approaching. Eek! So here they are.

Sun Goddess. I wanted to limit my color palette and used three color pencils. Two reds and a blue. She may have to be a doll.

The last two are done with a 6B pencil. I've only done three male faces and I think I will add to that group. Gotta go.

13 & 14-29 Faces

I did these two yesterday. Both I used a ballpoint pen.

A very tired witch with a ghost hat. The thing just can't stop talking.

Baby in a bunner bonnet. Have to keep in with the bunners.

12-29 Faces

Yes, I'm behind, again. So what's new right? I was finally able to get out of my apartment yesterday and today to go to the grocery store. Cabin fever hit something fierce. I have been getting things done, like working on two more aliens.  So here's my Rag Doll Lady or maybe she's a lady scarecrow.

Me thinks I will have to start playing with some photo retouching sites.

11-29 Faces

I painted this face on my Columbian Doll from Gail Wilson's kit. I'm not sure I like it but it's not done. A little sanding and then some antiquing. I want to have her done by the end of the month. Ha, ha!

10-29 Faces

This is washed out looking because I used a gloss medium on it. I forgot not to use that particular kind. Oh well, here she is. I finished her today.

9-29 Faces

Sorry, slacking up here. It was done yesterday.

6 & 7 -29 Faces

I'm up-to-date with these two. Bika and Bana in their bunner gear.

5-29 Faces

Working hard to keep abreast of this challenge of a face a day.  Here is Bunnie and her Bunners.

Being a little silly here. You have to find your happy moments, you know?

4-29 Faces

I also like rabbits, aka bunnies, aka bunners and just about anything pertaining to them. Years ago I had two bunners as pets and loved them to death. I do miss them. This is Beryl and her bunnies.

I used Berol Prismacolor pencils and permanent pen.

3-29 Faces

Working to catch up on my faces. I finished this little miss last night. Petra is ready for the slopes.

I used watercolor pencils, permanent pen on watercolor paper. Yes, I like skulls and Day of the Dead stuff.

29 Faces - 1

I'm doing 29 Faces this month and I am a wee bit behind. I will catch up though. Here's my first face. Done with a permanent pen and I tried to keep one continuous line. I did okay but I think I will try it again.

Hello February!

Where did January go? It was a bit sad, so maybe it's a good thing it has been put into the archives. I got really sick towards the end and now I'm a bit behind my schedule. The good thing about schedules is that they can be changed. I did manage to get some new work done, yesterday and they are ready for the Small Art/Big Heart show and sale at Hampton House Art & Framing. The artwork has to be 12" or smaller and they rarely have 3D pieces, so I had to do something. I'm sure you might remember these guys, or at least two of them.

Larz and Juno.

Mixed media, polymer clay, cloth, wire armature, felt and self standing. That's the part I really like.

This is what they looked like before the paint job. Now I've got to finish the other two and get to some Halloween things. Have a great month.

Whoa!

Okay, wow, geesh!  This year, this crazy year is going by so fast. A lot of stuff have been happening and I'm treading water. I'm h...
