In Progress
On the left we have three aliens. On the right, we have three puppet heads. The puppet heads are covered with Rigid Wrap and now everything will be covered with paper mache clay.
I got this recipe from Ultimate Paper Clay online. I've been wanting to try this out because she (the chef of the recipe) said that you didn't need to have lots of paper strips and glue. You do have to have your form made out to what you want it to look like. I have made up my first batch and after my break, I will get some on my pieces. My monster and alien puppet heads have a bit more detail on them than the one that will be a Day of the Dead head. I'll let you know what happens.

On My Table
I'm working on some old tried and true pieces and some new pieces for a show in what, three days. Yeah, you know I'm special. I will take whatever I get done. I'm okay with that.
New Cauldron Critters are hanging up to dry. I couldn't find the wonderful pattern I had made for the first batch, so I had to make another one. And that one needs some tweaking. I will put this pattern in a safe place, no really, a safe place that I can remember.
I do love my Voodoo Doll Pin pattern. I've decided to turn them into Day of the Dead Doll Pins. I think they're turning out quite well.
Just one of my paint containers. Food storage containers are good for something.
I don't know if I'll have these guys done by Friday night. They are puppet heads. One a Frankenstein's monster, a Day of the Dead character, and an alien. My fingers are crossed.

Hello!
Yesterday morning on my way to the shop Olde Mill Eclective, the sun was shining and it was quite balmy at 52 degrees. It looked and felt like spring except for the semi- and leafless trees, and piles of brown leaves on the ground. I had to remind myself that it is December. I don't mind the mild weather but i had to slay a stink bug the night before last. I've kind of had enough of them this year. Be gone! I need a break. Which means we need some cold weather and snow. Which we won't be getting for Christmas.
The Krankies Holiday Craft Fair was very good. I won't have to live in a box quite yet. Thank goodness for the credit card reader. Whoever came up with that, I hope he/she is living it up. That little program made my weekend. It took me almost two days to recover and I still picked up a bug. I have one more show this year. It's a late one but I'll take it.
At the Krankies show, there were a few people who thought some of my work too creepy. They obviously haven't been web surfing because my items are quite tame compared to other creations out there. I didn't fret, I just told myself that they weren't my audience and I smiled for the next person. I received many compliments on my work. People who had bought things as gifts last year, came back with reports that the items were well received. New people who looked at my table from across the room, walked over and just smiled. There were people who took time to look and began to laugh. Those who looked at my work, walked away and came back to smile and laugh some more. Both males and females did this. And the best compliment of all was from a woman who said she loved how I had a variety of things but could tell they were all my creations. She pointed out how each face, even the needle felted ones, had their own personality. I was on a cloud. Talk about a creative ego boost. Exactly what I needed. It's one thing when family and friends tell you your work is great but when you have fans and total strangers love it and the way I think, that is just so awesome. A great feeling to wrap up the end of the year.
Now, I have a boat load of ideas from all over the place. But first, I must blitz the apartment and studio. I can't find a darn thing. There's stuff on the floor of my studio and I've created a path. The room isn't even that big. Yikes! It needs to be done, so I'll start this week. Through the sniffles. A little bit at a time.

Hello July!
This year is just zooming by! What's up with that? No matter. It was a good day today. Got two hand puppets with working mouths done as samples for kid workshops. I was bound and determined to do so. I also got my 500 new words in for the day and now I'm going to sketch. Lots to do still but off to a good start for the month.
I really like these guys. Aliens! And they are ready to enjoy the summer.
Yesterday I finished reading a book. Wonders are starting to happen. I started the book last year. It's really amazing and a good feeling. I'm working of finishing one for this month. I've got quite a few stacked up to read. I'd like to finish one a month for the rest of the year. We'll see what happens. I'm already laughing.

More Workshop Samples
I had my long creative day yesterday. I put in eleven hours. Helps make up for the slow day on Monday. I did have to run an errand on Monday that, well, I had to go back to the business because of a mistake on my bill. By the time I got back home, I was mentally exhausted and decided to take a break the rest of the day. I try to plan all of my errands on the same day because I know I won't get much done when I get home. I think dealing with the traffic and trying not to get creamed by large trucks is quite stressful.
Anyway, yesterday was good. Got two hand puppets done. I've got to get the samples for kid's classes done. One, so I can teach and get paid; two, so I can get to what I really want to do. Be a mad creative person. Bwahahaha! I am so itching to do some Halloween stuff and pirates. Gotta do some pirates. I also have a small art fair next month and I've got to whip up some items for that.
I make sure that I do something for me during my day. I am bound and determined to get my Hop To It quilt top done this year. I'd like to get one quilt top done this year. Yes, I keep starting them and not finishing them. In a way, I guess it's okay because it's my release valve. It's my fun thing to do that's not doll related. I know it will really help my psyche and ego if I can get it done. It feels good to get things done.
Well, I better go have breakfast and get going. Have a great Wednesday everyone.
