Onward

The adventure is still in it's baby phase and that's okay. One day at a time. Got the binding stitched down on five more mug rugs and two more faces were added to my 29 Faces challenge.

The mug rugs below show each side.

The same with these. Bears on one side and bear paws on the other.

29 Faces

Number 26 of 29 Faces.

And my latest mug rugs. The top is the back and the bottom is the front. Or vice versa. Whatever floats your boat.

Moving Right Along

Yes, moving right along. When I started my latest voodoo dolls, I didn't like them. The fabric I got wasn't the greatest because that's what we get unless you go to the really expensive places. I would get to the next step and they still looked horrid and I was beginning to worry that maybe I shouldn't have taken on this task. But the little voice inside said to keep going and now they are beginning to look like something. I had made the Muddy Creek stamp but the ink that I used wasn't permanent so I painted the name following what I stamped. Looks a lot better and got eyes on.

And I have a new muse. His name is Mesmer Boris Ratchett. I got him today and he will be getting dressed up. His head moves and he's perfect for a huge project I started working on. Plus, he's my reward for sticking with the voodoo dolls. You have to reward yourself when you get to a certain point in a project and most definitely when you finish one. I've got to get into that habit. Reward myself with some chocolate or a magazine or something for a job well done. I deserve that.

Project

My newest batch of voodoo dolls is coming along. They are supposed to go into the Muddy Creek Music Hall for Halloween. It looks like I haven't shown any pics along the way, so I guess I'll do that now. I found some fabric at a local fabric store. I hate it when I find something I like, use it all, go back and they don't have it, go back again and they have it but it's not the same quality. Such is life I suppose. I started by tea dyeing the fabric.

I drew and carved the name of the music hall and made sure I did it right. You know, drawing it backwards on the stamp so that it prints the right way.

The first one. It's a different pattern from my first voodoo doll. So far so good.

I cut out and sewed ten and stamped their chests. Not bad but not great, so I will probably go back and add more detail.

I cut out and sewed ten more for a total of 20 and they are ready to be stuffed.

I also made a britches pattern and sewed up 20 pair. They are tiny.

Talk Like a Pirate Day

It was yesterday and I celebrated by going to the local Krispy Kreme and got my free doughnut hole because I wasn't dressed like a pirate. But I did get a doughnut with skull and crossbones and a travel mug. So that was breakfast. Doesn't take much to entertain me.

Still Here

I have actually been doing some things. I got more faces for my 29 Faces challenge done. I've been working on my short stories and the story for the upcoming NaNoWriMo in November. I cleared off a shelf on a bookcase to put what I will be writing on so I won't have to go look for it. I should take a pic of that shelf. Still downsizing and clearing out the apartment because it needs it. Been working on doll clothes patterns and went walking with a new friend, Kate. I told Kate that I was having a hard time getting into making things with air dry clay and she suggested that I do a personal challenge called 'Make it Suck!' Not expect anything great because I'm good at judging what I do as a beginner to what someone has been doing for years. Yes, make it suck and not have any notions of it looking like anything just practice with the clay. Sounds like a plan but I've got to finish one project first before I do that.

Short Post

This will be short. I'm working on a huge t-shirt quilt on the longarm. 88 inches by 114 inches. I did the part-time gig and I can't keep my eyes open. I did manage two faces. Writing is going well, the prepping for NaNo in November is on track.

Where Do I Want To Be?

Good question. I started on this yesterday by making a comment. I'm all for making plans. I think I'm up into the 900's or something. Plans are good but lately, my plans have been pooped on by the Blue Bird of Happiness or the Pouter Pixie. I guess pixies poop. Whatever. Plan, plan, plan. List after list after list. This year it hasn't gotten me anywhere. So I stopped to think why. Did some reading. And then I found something. That was missing. Along with the happiness and contentment and other things along that line. I'd lost my sense of wonder. Everything that I did had to have a reason for doing it. I wasn't having fun. Now that I have a part-time job it has put some things into perspective.
Maybe I can't get my 'eye of the tiger' back because my wonder has gone away. I've stopped asking 'what if''. I mean, I do that when I'm writing but not with anything else.

We get one shot at being on this planet. I've decided that I''m not done yet. There are some things that I don't like right now but it isn't the end of the world. Even though the Sword of Damocles is still swinging a little. I'm totally missing my weird side. And... and the biggest thing of all...

ADVENTURE
Whether I'm going somewhere alone or with someone riding shotgun. Or creating a whole new world. Or beings. Painting a picture. Taking a walk in the woods. Seeing what the ice cream tastes like at the new food joint. Trying a new recipe or getting back to playing dress up.

That's it!

I am now officially on an adventure. Going to do something wild, crazy, and unusual. It will be a very strange adventure. Yep. That's it. See ya!

Working

It's kind of difficult getting back into a working schedule that's not your own. Whatever. I have to do what I have to do to get to where I want to be.  That's another post. Maybe tomorrow. Anyway, I'm determined to do this face challenge, so here are the latest. I want to concentrate on male faces, again. Practice makes you better. Plus, I have to fill up these old sketchbooks. This was one I had in high school. Yeah! That was a long time ago and it's still not filled. This one is 5.5" by 8.5". Bigger than the tiny book.

29 Faces

29 Faces is doing a challenge for the month of September. I did a face yesterday but didn't post, so here it is with today's face. Still working on filling existing sketchbooks and this one is tiny (3.5 inches by 4.25 inches) so you see a part of my finger.

September

Yes, it's September. A new month. Not even through with the first day when i get news that my apartment rent will go up by 30 bucks. I didn't take it well at first but I guess everyone has to make money. It did take me a couple of hours to think about and reevaluate things and I'm still here.

I've decided to be positive because we all know that stuff happens to throw you off your course. I have a new plan and will make it work because I believe that it will get me out of my present situation. I still have a few hours in this first day of the new month and instead of sitting around thinking that nothing is working out. Which is very easy to do. I will take action to get to where I want. Forget naysayers, namely me, and forge ahead. Become a bull in a china shop. It's my life. I want to live it well. First I believe. Second, I take action. Everyday. And once in awhile reward myself. I like this quote from Anthony Robbins.

Today is not like yesterday.
And tomorrow will be different forever.

I will keep going. A bit more focused now. And I will be a bit more nicer to me. I keep forgetting to do that.

Whoa!

Okay, wow, geesh!  This year, this crazy year is going by so fast. A lot of stuff have been happening and I'm treading water. I'm h...
